Title: “The Whispers”

Author: Ashley Audrian

Genre: Thriller

Publication Date: June 6, 2023

Rating: ★☆☆☆☆ (1/5)

I know I am in the minority here (I see you, 3.96 average rating on Goodreads), but I did not enjoy this book. Not even a little bit. I found most of the characters incredibly unlikeable, even those that I don’t think the author meant to write that way. There were two that I started to warm up to slightly in the second half of the book, but not enough to actually feel invested in where their parts in this convoluted story might be going.

I know some will find the ending to be a great cliffhanger, but I found it frustrating more than anything else. I am well aware that books do not need to be wrapped up in a neat little bow as they reach their conclusion, and I have read several that left more questions that answers at their ends, but in a way that felt interesting to contemplate. This ending just felt as sparely done as the rest of the story line and character arcs. I was definitely disappointed.
