Title: Daughter of Mine

Author: Megan Miranda

Genre: Psychological Thriller/Suspense

Publication Date: April 9, 2024

Rating: ★★★★☆ (4/5)

Daughter of Mine by Megan Miranda is filled with complex and convoluted family dynamics and has a sharply written narrative that keeps you guessing until the very end. Miranda’s atmospheric writing style skillfully brings the town of Mirror Lake to life, immersing readers in both the physical location and its many secrets.

At the heart of the story is Hazel Sharp, whose unexpected inheritance of her childhood home leads her back to a town she left behind years ago. As she navigates the issues of her past and the strained relationships within her family, the mystery of her mother’s disappearance resurfaces amidst a drought that brings long-buried truths to the surface.

What sets the book apart from others in the genre is the ways in which it keeps the reader guessing who is behind the events in Hazel’s past, as well as those happening in town in the present. Miranda does a masterful job of intertwining the storylines, unspooling the layers of deception at a pace that makes you want to keep reading as quickly as possible to figure out what exactly is going on in Mirror Lake. Daughter of Mine will be a must-read for fans of psychological thrillers.
