Cameron Prescott is still living in small town Alaska and running her dental practice there. She is dating one of the officers she met when she turned up in Alaska to hunt down her serial killer husband. When a new round of murders begins, Cameron starts to question whether or not her former spouse really died in the wilderness, or if he escaped death yet again and is back to killing young women working in education.
I enjoyed the story this time around, but did like the first installment better. This one feels a little less high-stakes than the original story did, and the twists were slower to come in The Last Hunt. It felt like this addition to the series was trying too hard to mimic what worked in the first book, and it did not have as much character development. I definitely think readers should start with the first book in the series, as there is a lot in this one that would not make much sense without knowing what happened in The Final Hunt.
Thank you to NetGalley, Audrey J. Cole, and BooksGoSocial for an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.
