See How They Hide by Allison Brennan is an exciting and suspenseful thriller that kept me interested from beginning to end. The story starts with two people being murdered in the same brutal way, at the exact same time, and both have their bodies covered with red poppies. The murders happen on opposite sides of the country, which makes the case even more puzzling.
Detective Kara Quinn in Oregon and Special Agent Matt Costa in Virginia work together to figure out the connection between the victims. They dig into each of their pasts, but the more they learn, the more questions they have. The key to solving the case seems to be Riley Pierce, the only person who survived and might have information about the killers.
As they dig deeper, Kara and Matt discover that the murders are linked to a place called Havenwood, which has a dark and creepy history. The investigation starts to feel like something bigger and more dangerous than they expected. The more they uncover, the more they realize they are up against a powerful group willing to do anything to protect their secrets.
The book kept me guessing with twists and turns, although some parts were a bit predictable. Still, the story was interesting and the writing kept me turning pages. I really liked the setting and the characters, especially Kara and Matt. The ending wrapped everything up nicely, making it a great read for fans of crime thrillers. I’m giving it 4 out of 5 stars because I really enjoyed it, even though I wish some parts were a little less obvious. Overall, it’s definitely worth reading!
Thank you to Allison Brennan, Harlequin Trade Publishing, MIRA, and NetGalley for an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.
