Set in the isolated Yukon town of Haven’s Rock, Cold as Hell continues the tradition of the Detective Casey Duncan series blending mystery and survival with just enough chill to keep readers turning the pages.

This time around, Duncan, pregnant but always unstoppable, is as sharp and stubborn as ever, refusing to sit on the sidelines when unseen danger creeps into the hidden sanctuary she and her husband have built.

A thwarted attack, a body in the snow, and a rising storm make for a gripping mystery full of twists and building tension. While the pacing does slow a bit mid-book, the strong dynamics between characters and the eerie, isolated setting more than make up for it. Armstrong delivers another solid entry in this off-the-grid thriller series.

Thank you to Kelley Armstrong, St. Martin’s Press, Minotaur Books, and NetGalley for an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.
