A Cold Whisper pulls you in right from the start with a heartbreaking scene: two sisters escaping their abusive home in the middle of a snowstorm, and one of them disappears. Twenty-five years later, Lily is still haunted by that night, and when a child in her care is found frozen in the snow, her past comes roaring back.
This book is a slow burn, but in the best way. It builds a really eerie, emotional atmosphere while peeling back layers of trauma, memory, and long-buried secrets. Lily is a strong, believable character, and the mystery around what really happened to Rose kept me turning the pages late into the night. A few parts dragged a bit, but the payoff was totally worth it.
Perfect if you like your thrillers with a heavy dose of heart and a haunting, wintry setting.
Thank you to Casey Dunn, Severn House, and NetGalley for an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.
